Car freaks and sound geeks show of their best rides – (Gallery)

With a thrilling day promised for car enthusiasts, the show was definitely one for the books, with Team Supersonic pulling out all the stops.

As the sun rose on August 4, petrolheads knew their day had finally dawned.

As morning became afternoon, the Autobarn Parts People and Team Supersonic Show Off Your Ride 2018 launched its 12th annual car show at the Home Affairs parking lot.

The scent of car polish lingered in the air and the excitement was palpable.

With a thrilling day promised for car enthusiasts, the show was definitely one for the books, with Team Supersonic pulling out all the stops.

“It was a sold out show with 221 entries in total,” said Supersonic founder, co-host and organiser of the show, Terence Chetty.

Car enthusiasts and seasoned names representing Newcastle, Ladysmith, Secunda, Durban, Johannesburg, and everywhere in between, arrived to show off their prides and joy.

It was an action packed afternoon which kept on entertaining.

There were vintage and modern cars in the Show n Shine categories, speedsters ramping it up on the dyno and a sanctioned sound competition with an official judge from the United States Auto Sound Competition International (USACI).

When the sun went down, the party went up a notch under the watchful eye of former East Coast Radio DJ, Trevor Williams.

Dyno testing:
Neels van Schalkwayk – Nissan
GTR.
Show n Shine:
Overall fi rst: Francis Gidage -Nissan NP200.
Overall second: Jerome Joseph -Ford Escort.
Overall third: Roswind Visagie – Kia Picanto
