Ned Hervormde Church brings Christmas cheer in August – (Gallery)

Dalene Honeyball explained the event’s purpose was to provide a platform for local entrepreneurs and fundraisers to generate income.

Christmas came a little early for the Ned Hervormde Church.

Last Saturday, the church held its first ever ‘Christmas in the Winter’ project, at its premises on the corner of Eaton and Amiel Roads.

The event was put together by female church members.

One of these members, Dalene Honeyball explained the event’s purpose was to provide a platform for local entrepreneurs and fundraisers to generate income.

“The theme was Christmas in the Winter, because the weather is cold and there are people in need.”

Honeyball said the event was well supported with many market stalls and many residents enjoying the social aspect of the event, which went on well into the afternoon.

Local artists were also given space to display their works.

The event also included many sweet and savoury homemade treats, as well as a fun puppet show for the children.

“This was a test run for next year, and maybe even to host the event annually,” Honeyball added.
