Local riders display astonishing talent at tent pegging festival
Their skills were put to the test in a number of fast-paced events.

The Majuba Tent Pegging Club hosted a Youth Tent Pegging Festival, at the Show Grounds on Saturday.
The annual youth festival is best known for emphasising children’s participation in horseback sports, with participants ranging in age from nine years to 19 years old.
This includes a number of seasoned equestrian athletes.
Showcasing their talents on the day were members of the male and female National Protea Teams, the President Team for boys and girls, the Under-14 Boys and Girls Teams and the Development Team, comprised of girls and boys.
Their skills were put to the test in a number of fast-paced events.
Natalie Schnuir, Secretary for the KwaZulu-Natal Equestrian Tent Pegging Union, said this was a good competition and a great showing for the young riders.
“There were four riders from Newcastle who took part, and five in total from KZN.”
There were riders from the nine provinces that participated at the youth festival, who have all received their SA Tent Pegging colours.
Some local riders are set to receive their Protea colours, following an international test in Beaufort West in June this year.
The day’s results were as follows:
First position – Boys’ Protea Team.
Second position – Development Team.
Third position – Girls’ President Team.
