This annual event is supported by not just parents and learners, but also well-wishers who laced up their running shoes and sprinted or walked the 1km or 5km route.

Families and stallholders began to gather at Blue Haze Country Lodge early on Saturday morning, some stretching their muscles while others chatted or browsed through the items on offer at the stalls.

Excited principal Mr Jordaan signalled the start and the participants headed for the gate with grunts of effort as feet pounded the ground. Medals and congratulations awaited the fun-runners at the finish line.

Thereafter, families could enjoy a day out in the sun, soaking up the picturesque views of Wagendrift Dam.
