Gym giant’s journey from ‘fat to fit’

Dedicated school teacher, Marthiens Louwrens was mercilessly mocked and bullied in high school for being overweight.

Marthiens Louwrens (34) is a gym giant who recently began his journey from ‘fat to fit’.

Marthiens may be unfamiliar to his classmates now.

In his drive to attain the top of fitness coaching, this ‘man on a mission’ has lost 34 kg.

He has restored his self-esteem and health:

“I am proud to demonstrate to others that where you start is not always where you finish up.”

Marthiens was not particularly athletic as a child.

He had few friends and was mercilessly mocked and bullied for being overweight.

“This crushed my self-esteem and continued my downward spiral of depression,” admitted Marthiens.

His hard work and commitment to his own health saw him reach an impressive goal weight of 84kg.

“It was a tortuous 10-month trip on the road to fitness, eating healthily, and exercising every day,” he explained.
