Ladies ‘peck away’ at two-day trail run

The Oxpecker event is a fully catered stage race that takes place at Em’seni camp

A few ladies from Vryheid had a wonderful time at the Oxpecker Trail Run over the weekend. Running two days in the Drakensberg Mountains is just bliss. The popular Oxpecker Trail Run is a two day trail run which takes place in Winterton, halfway between Johannesburg and Durban. This event is run by the Green family, who are passionate about trail running. The race covers a distance of 36km and has various accommodation options from staying in a tent to having your own room. The Oxpecker event is a fully catered stage race that takes place at Em’seni camp, near Winterton, where participants run 21km on Saturday and 16km on Sunday through the bush area around Spioenkop Dam through Acacia and giant Aloe bushveld. The Vryheid ladies were so blessed with lovely weather and perfect running conditions. Good food and good company and great evening entertainment and a well-organized event once again. Well done to Lauren Glutz and her sister, Ronell Bean, Yvette Barsdorf, Astrid Vonkeman and Ronell Keeve for completing the stage race. “We are all blessed to have had such a wonderful time.”
