VAC runners keep club’s name high at different marathons

Vryheid Athletic Club (VAC) runners took part in various marathons recently, notching up good results.
Bongiwe Zulu competed in the Dolphin Coast Marathon on Sunday, March 17. Bongi finished the 42.2km race in a time of 5:30.35.The Dolphin Coast Marathon is an iconic event that runs from Ballito to Durban down the M4 Coastal highway. The race is also a qualifier for the Comrades. The 42km race starts in Ballito, while the 21km half-marathon starts at Sibaya Casino and the 10km at the Virginia Sports Centre in Durban North. All the routes follow the M4 to Durban, with the turn off at Durban Country Club and the finish at the Amphitheatre on the Durban Promenade. This race provides an opportunity for runners to experience a full marathon distance that is set against a breathtaking coastal backdrop. The Balwin Sport Dolphin Coast Marathon is more than just a race; it is a celebration of endurance with a memorable experience in the spirit of the running community.
Mandla Mnisi and Mishack Ledwaba celebrated Human Rights Day by competing in the Standerton Goldi 3-in-1 Marathon. Mandla competed in the 42km race, while Mishack took on the 21km. Both races started at the Hoërskool Standerton sports field, out via Kosmos suburb to the R50 towards Leandra and back again. Mandla completed the 42.2km race in a time of 03:25.43 and Mishack made his mark in the 21km in a time of 01:41.29. This marathon is also a qualifier for the Comrades.
The Meat Masters Runner of Week is Bianca Vosloo. Having to juggle between commitments, Bianca managed to clock 100km for the past week, of which 40km was during Saturday’s long run.
