Rainy weather doesn’t stop Vryheid parkrun milestones and smiles

Rainy weather didn’t stop Vryheid parkrun, with milestones and personal bests adding to the energy.

Despite the rainy, chilly conditions, avid and dedicated parkrun participants made their way to the weekly event on Saturday, with volunteers and entrants making sure that the ambience was warm and friendly.
Thubelihle Ngcobo took the top spot while Prudence Nkosi was the first female home.
For Sandra Lourens, the day was extra special as she celebrated her 50th park run event. Unfortunately, there were no visitors or first-timers on Saturday, but there was one personal best time.
Congratulations also went to Manfred, who celebrated a mini milestone by completing his 25th event.
Vryheid parkrun is a free weekly 5km event for participants of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 07:00 (October – March) and 08:00 (April – September) in Vryheid Golf Club, 1 President Street, Vryheid.

It offers an opportunity for all the local community, regardless of age or gender, to come together regularly to enjoy the outdoors and get physically active. “We want to encourage people to run, jog, walk and volunteer together – this event is truly open to all and best of all, it really is free,” an organiser said.

“Taking part is easy – just register before your first ever parkrun. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there!”
