VAC runners launch 2026 with creative long run

VAC runners kick off 2026 with a creative long run across Vryheid.

While many residents are still enjoying the last days of their holidays, a dedicated group of Vryheid Athletic Club (VAC) members laced up their running shoes early on Saturday morning to launch the club’s first long run of 2026.

A creative way to welcome 2026

The weekly VAC long run takes place every Saturday, but this past weekend’s run was kicked off in a fun and creative way. Runners took to the streets, jogging across town and back and forth to literally ‘write out’ the numbers 2026 on the route.

Sharing the early-morning running spirit

The club shared that they hope Vryheid residents will get a glimpse of what their runners are often up to in the early mornings, as members continue to train with commitment and enthusiasm.

Eyes set on goals for the year ahead

According to the club, members are excited and motivated, and runners say they are ready to chase big dreams and bold goals in the year ahead. VAC wishes all its members a strong and successful year – one filled with achieved goals, high energy and, most importantly, injury-free running.

New members welcome

New members are welcome. Anyone interested in joining the club can contact VAC secretary Elizma Nortjé on 083 629 6996.
