Ladysmith Juventus crowned league champions

The Juventus coach promised the people of uThukela that the team would work hard to make the district proud in the upcoming provincial play-offs.

Ladysmith Juventus FC have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 uThukela Regional League after an outstanding season in which they suffered only one defeat.

Champions with two matches still remaining

Although it had already become clear that Juventus would finish the season as champions with two matches still remaining, the title was officially confirmed this afternoon (May 31) when they defeated Winterton FC 3-2 in a thrilling and highly entertaining encounter at Settlers Park.

The victory capped off a remarkable campaign for the Ladysmith-based side, who have consistently displayed quality, determination and resilience throughout the season.

Juventus to now represent uThukela region in the province

As regional champions, Ladysmith Juventus FC will now go on to represent the uThukela District in the provincial play-offs, where they will compete for promotion to the next level.

Getting ready for the play-offs

Speaking to the Ladysmith Gazette after the match, head coach Asiyabonga Magubane expressed his delight at securing the league title and qualifying for the play-offs.

“We are happy to have achieved our goal of winning the league and reaching the play-offs. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. We know the challenges that lie ahead, but we are determined to prepare well and give our best,” said Magubane.

He also thanked the club’s supporters and promised the people of uThukela that the team would work hard to make the district proud in the upcoming provincial play-offs.
