UPDATE: Broken pumps hinder proposed 12 megalitre supply

Plans are allegedly being set in place to ensure a more fairly and evenly distributed supply of water to town, but nothing has been confirmed as yet.

Earlier today, at water crisis meeting in Ulundi, it was decided that the water supply would be increased to 12 megalitres per day over the upcoming long weekends.

An investigation was done into the practicality of this proposed plan and it was discovered that, due to several broken pumps being in for repairs, according to Vryheid’s AfriForum Chairman, André Van Der Walt, 12 megalitres is an unrealistic target to meet.

Van Der Walt received notification that only half of the proposed amount of water would be possible, given the circumstances, which could mean that those in higher areas of Vryheid may still face the continued inconvenience of empty taps.

Plans are allegedly being set in place to ensure a more fairly and evenly distributed supply of water to town, but nothing has been confirmed as yet.
