A 19-year-old from Mpofini Secondary was arrested on Thursday, May 12, after being caught selling drugs on the school premises.
According to the principal of the school Mr Ndlela, the learner was seen by a staff member receiving something from someone outside the school through the fence and it is suspected that they were giving this learner the marijuana which he was selling.
Two other learners who were undeniably high, were found loitering during class hours with the said ‘dealer’.
“They were brought to my office and we searched them. Five packets of dagga were found in the learner who is suspected to be selling weed’s jacket, the other packet was half empty and it is suspected that these learners had already started smoking it,” said Mr Ndlela.
The disappointed principal went on to say that it was such learners that give the school a bad name.
The young man appeared in court on Friday and was charged with the possession of and dealing with drugs.
The Vryheid SAPS said that they would not be lenient with those found guilty of any criminal activities as they want to deter like-minded criminals from thinking they can get away with crime
