Domestic worker attacked for R100

A domestic worker was attacked and robbed while returning to her place of employment along Panorama Drive on Sunday evening.

Her employer, who asked that names not be divulged for fear of victimisation, said the domestic worker had to be rushed to the hospital with an open head wound after two men attacked her on the street and demanded her handbag.

“While we did not witness the incident ourselves, we were told by our neighbours that she tried to hold on to her handbag when the two men grabbed it. The neighbours heard her screaming and contacted the police and the ambulance, but the men got away with her wallet, which contained about R100,” she said.

The domestic worker was taken to Madadeni Hospital for treatment and was discharged on Monday morning.
