HospitalWebsiteTangible evidence that Vryheid is to get its own private hospital is now available. Residents only need to go to the west end of Utrecht Street where it intersects with Edward Street, to discover that the vacant land upon which the hospital will stand, is being worked upon.
The “first sod” was ceremoneously turned on Friday by the Mayor of AbaQulusi, Cllr Patience N Khaba. Heavy machinery will now prepare the site for the hospital, a task which entails removing some very large rocks, and leveling the site which slopes down to the west towards the Magot River. Any reasonably-sized indigenous trees that can be worked around, will be worked around.
The site clearance is expected to take until the end of November.
Construction of the hospital will begin in 2014.
