Giving career guidance to pupils

Relief Community Development (NPO) hosted a career guidance project at the Ezakheni C-section community hall for grade 7 and 10 pupils on Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26. 110 students from KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga attended.
The career guidance started with a camp on October 25 at C-section’s Faith Mission Church. The camp was about “restoring and reinvesting potential through life skills that elevate the mind, attitude and behaviour to engage a transformed and energetic youth”. The camp included ice-breaking games, dance, music and motivational videos.
The objective was to work on the low pass-rate in schools, and change the attitude and behaviour of pupils. It was also to try and decrease the teenage pregnancy rate. Also on the agenda was working on life skills and getting the pupils to work together as a team to accomplish goals. The camp targeted problems that children face, and also spoke about how the pupils can work on their self-image and self-esteem. It was said that having role models in life is important in this regard.
Schools from as far as Volksrust, Newcastle and Ezakheni took part in the camp. Relief Community Development would like to thank the sponsors who played a role in making the camp possible and such a success.
