Local cops take bronze in angling competition

The anglers are now looking forward to April next year when they will play host to other teams

Eight anglers from Ladysmith SAPS took part in the Provincial Commissioners Shield fresh water angling competition. The competition was held at Klipfontien Dam in the Vryheid area from Monday, October 21, to Friday, October 25.

Six teams – from Ladysmith, Newcastle, Dundee, Vryheid, Durban and Pietermaritzburg – battled it out for top spot. Southern A (Durban) came first and took gold, followed by Vryheid and Ladysmith, taking silver and bronze respectively.

Three anglers in the Ladysmith team belong to the Provincial Angling Team. The anglers are now looking forward to April next year when they will play host to other teams. This will be an important competition in which selections for the national team will be held.
