Golfwise initiative rewards rehabilitated offenders

The Golfwise programme took place at the Glencoe Correctional Services Golf Club on November 6.
Six offenders graduated after a one-year programme, indorsed by the Professional Golf Association of South Africa.
The aim of the programme is to rehabilitate offenders by using golf as a medium, as well provide jobs for all graduates and release them back into society.
The Acting Area Commissioner of Glencoe Correctional Services, Mr S Hahaj, said that such rehabilitation programmes would not be successful without the involvement of the community and external stakeholders.
The chairperson of the PGA of KZN, Mr Wayne Krambeck, was very impressed with the quality of work that was put into the programme and the progress and dedication shown by the six graduates.
The PGA of SA has committed itself to the 2014 programme.
