One injured as car crashes onto train tracks

A car landed next to train tracks after going off the N11 in the early hours of Saturday morning. It is believed that the driver lost control of his vehicle while going round an S-bend along the N11 at about 3am.

The car smashed through the bridge and ripped in half, leaving one man stuck in the car. Emergency personnel rushed out to the scene and the jaws of life were used to remove the man from the mangled wreck. He sustained moderate injuries and was rushed to hospital. The train lines were briefly closed while the scene was cleared.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
