Youth tops experience at bowls comp
Two of the youngest 'oldies' jumped ship to team Young.

It was youth versus experience in a bowling club caper last weekend.
On another busy weekend for the Newcastle Bowling Club, a number of competitions were contested.
During the Young Versus Old challenge, two of the youngest ‘oldies’, aged 61 and 62 respectively, had to jump ship to the Young team, in order to even out the numbers.
Although youth did succeed against the mature bowlers, the afternoon was played in good spirit.
In the men’s and ladies’ pairs competitions, Alice Howe and Lindsay McArthur (4 + 19) finished first out of the four female teams, after a round robin contest.
Michelle Steele and Vicky van der Merwe (4 + 1) ended in second.
A total of 11 teams entered the men’s draw, with the eventual semi-final clashes pitting Steven Shaw and Bert Rodgers against Gert Roos and Colin Broderick, and Billy Nicholas and Billy Villiers against Trevor Hutchinson and Michael van der Merwe.
The final between Steven and Bert and the two Billys to take place on November 30.
The last games of sectional play in the FedAuto Business League will be played this Thursday evening, with the final playoff between section 1 and 2 to take place next Thursday.
Visitors are welcome at the monthly club chicken run on Saturday afternoon and the Nomads social on Sunday.
Members are reminded to enter for the International Day, a traditional affair which generally attracts a good field of bowlers representing England, Scotland, South Africa and the Barbarians (i.e. mixed all sorts).
