Madadeni police haul in the bad guys
The arrest of a suspected killer and two others last week show that Madadeni police are going all out to fight crime.
A suspected killer was arrested by Madadeni police at 2am on Thursday morning.
Police sources say they received a tip from an informant that the man, believed to have been involved in an armed robbery that took place last month in which a foreign national businessman was killed, had taken residence in a home in Section 4.
Two other men were arrested that night.
One of the men was found in possession of a firearm that is believed to have been used in a number of armed robberies, including the murder of the foreign national, and the other man was found in possession of mandrax.
The firearm has since been sent for ballistic testing.
Members of the Crime Prevention and Visible Policing units, who made the arrests, say the mutual trust they share with members of the community has contributed significantly to their successes of late.
“I believe that the community of Madadeni is also tired of crime. The residents are actively participating in the fight against crime by helping the police. Together, we will create a safer community,” said Constable Sifiso Masondo, a member of the Crime Prevention unit.
