Special needs children meet Santa Claus
The pupils received gifts after touring the fantasy garden of the Kirkland family.
Charles M Schulz once said: “Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.”
If this statement rings true, the Kirkland family allowing children the chance to open gifts and partake in scrumptious food is an extension of the spirit of Christmas season.
It all began with eager children from Esperanza/Mongoose Special Needs School on Monday evening.
After singing Jingle Bells to summon Santa Claus, the children were led through the brightly blinking garden and fairy wonderland, gasping in awe at the snowy scenes.
Their rapt fascination with all the bells and whistles was a heartening display of childhood innocence.
Once the children and teachers were huddled under the eaves of the outside entertainment room, Santa Claus himself presented a new gift to each of the Esperanza pupils.
The joy on the faces of the pupils was enough to bring a tear to the eyes of some.
Management, staff and children of Esperanza thank the Kirkland family for their generosity and hospitality, and wish all a joyous Christmas season and a happy New Year.
