Cops bust underage drinking party

Teens admitted they were charged a R20 entrance fee.

A teenager was taken into custody yesterday (December 4) after police broke up a party in Schuinshoogte.

Police officials were asked to intervene by residents of the neighbourhood, on suspicion underage children were being provided with alcohol at the Begonia Street property. Teenagers and officials confirmed there had been a R20 gate fee to enter the property.

One resident said this was not the first time such parties had taken place at the house, but his problem was with discarded bottles and cans littering the sidewalks afterward.

“They respect my property and I respect theirs.”

Responding to issues of loud music, the resident confirmed that it had not been a problem before.

In the aftermath of the party, an under-aged and unlicensed driver rear-ended this journalist’s car, which resulted in officials issuing her father a hefty fine for the transgressions.
