Chinese factory owner hands out t-shirts in Madiba’s honour
Chinese businessman says the man Mandela was, makes him proud to be part of South Africa.
Chinese clothing factory owner, David Yan’s, 300 staff members each received a t-shirt bearing a picture of Nelson Mandela as a gift yesterday afternoon.
Mr Yan said it was important to him that his staff had something with which to remember this great man by and keep him in their hearts.
Far from being mournful over Mandela’s passing, members of staff who received the t-shirts, danced and sang songs rejoicing and celebrating the life that Mandela lived. They were grateful for the sacrifices he made.
“Mandela was a great man, not just for South Africa but to the entire world,” said Mr Yan. “I was watching a Chinese channel on television at midnight when I saw the broadcast about his death and I continued to watch up until 2am. I have admired this man since I was still in China. I have admired his ability to inspire people to work together. I feel very sad about the loss of this man; we can never forget.”
Mr Yan added that what he admired about Mandela the most was the fact that, even though he was imprisoned for fighting for equality, he never gave up and never held ill feelings toward those who wronged him.
“Mandela will never be gone. Let his memory be hope and let his spirit be unity. Mandela laid the foundation for this country to stand strong. He is a man who makes me proud to be part of South Africa,” concluded Mr Yan.
