Miss Bollywood crowned
The hall was filled with men, women and children of all ages who turned up to see the beautiful girls strut their stuff
The 2013 Miss Bollywood was held at the ML Sultan school hall last night (Saturday). The competition was divided into a junior and senior category. There were five girls in the junior section, aged five to nine years old, and four girls in the senior section, aged 12 to 14.
The hall was filled with men, women and children of all ages who turned up to see the beautiful girls strut their stuff! The contestants had to complete a ‘royalty’ phase, where they gave the crowd and the judges their best royal walk. There was also a talent phase in which the girls showed off their talents. There was dancing, acting and comedy. The girls then got into their best eastern-wear for the eastern phase of the competition.
The judges had a tough time choosing a winner, but someone had to win the title at the end of the evening. Awards were given for selling the most tickets, and for the most photogenic entrant. This was followed by the crowning of the second and first princesses, and the queen of the junior and senior categories.
In the junior category, nine-year-old Karabo Magasela was crowned second princess and eight-year-old Karlean Bachu was crowned first princess. The title of queen went to the youngest contestant, five-year-old Shruti Unesh Kallideen!
In the senior category, 13-year-old Ravika Ramnarayan was crowned second princess and 13-year-old Shanel Uchee was first princess. The title of queen in the senior category went to 14-year-old Shamona Buthuram. Well done to all the girls!
