Warrant Officer Shrinath, fondly known by locals as ‘Speedy’, died today of a heart attack. He was rushed to hospital by family shortly after 10am after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 44 years-old.

He retired from the SAPS recently after serving in the police force for 25 years.

He spoke about his family and his life as a policeman in a recent interview with the Ladysmith Gazette:

“You need to stay positive. There is always light at the end of the tunnel, so don’t ever lose hope,” Speedy told our reporter.
Speaking of the close calls he had during his years of service, he thanked God for protecting him while serving as a police officer. He also thanked his family for standing by him during all the times when he was called out at odd hours and for praying for his safe return.

“Speedy, dear friend, you will be missed,” says Rod Skinner, Editor of the Ladysmith Gazette. “I counted him as a friend, a man of utmost integrity, a family man and a policeman on speed dial should I need help.”
