Shanté unlocks her potential

The 17-year-old is an aspirant Chartered Accountant.

Perseverance and understanding are the keys to Shanté Naidoo’s success.

With distinctions in seven subjects, as she admittedly expected to attain, the Lincoln Heights Secondary School pupil believes in the old adage ‘work smart, not hard’.

Shanté explained consistency throughout the year served her well.

“I always did my homework and asked the teacher if I didn’t understand something. Before the exams, I just reviewed the year’s work.”

The formula obviously worked, considering her top marks in English home language, Afrikaans additional language, Mathematics, Accounting, Business Studies, Life Orientation and Visual Arts.

For the latter, she earned a perfect score of 100 per cent.

An aspirant B Comt student, Shanté has been accepted to study in Durban towards her degree, and hopes to qualify as a chartered accountant in a few years’ time.

“You have to persevere to get what you want.”

Shanté said her teachers at Lincoln Heights Secondary were the wind beneath her wings, and had taught her to soar to insurmountable.

Education, she continued, was the true key to unlocking one’s future.

“You should clasp both your hands around the key.”
