Vryheid football legends score big with school shoes drive
Vryheid football legends joined forces to support learners through a school shoes donation drive.
A soccer tournament hosted by Vryheid Masters, in partnership with King Xavi Best 11, recently brought football legends together at the Landbou sports field to support a school shoes donation drive.
The tournament featured teams from Vryheid and surrounding areas. The initiative was aimed at assisting learners in need of school shoes, with schools in the Coronation area and Vryheid at large benefiting from the donation drive.
Legends battle it out on the field
The games on the field saw Vryheid Masters face Zonke Legends, with the hosts securing a 2-1 win.
AbaQulusi Legends went head-to-head with Nongoma Legends, with AbaQulusi Legends claiming a 3-1 win.
In another match, Men United faced Vryheid Masters. Despite Vryheid Masters’ efforts to secure another win, Men United proved too strong and won the match 3-1.
The final match saw Amagents FC take on Nongoma Legends, with the latter securing a 1-0 victory.

Organisers call for community support
The organisers stated that , they would like to appeal to sponsors, local businesses, municipal officials and the community at large to support initiatives of this nature, saying that they play an important role in helping children who are in need of basic school necessities like shoes and uniforms.
Schools grateful for support
The beneficiary schools expressed their appreciation for the initiative and thanked the football legends for using sport as a platform to give back to the community.
