Little Egerton under reconstruction

Little Egerton have just restored the old pool on the premises.

The pool was last filled with water roughly 20 years ago, and has since been filled with rubbish and boulders. Egerton principal Barry Calloway took the initiative and had the pool restored to its former glory. It has been a year in the planning and the removal of the boulders took the duration of the December holidays to complete.

A new pool pump, new floodlights and new fibreglass are some of the features of the new pool. The one end of the pool is just over a metre deep, which makes it ideal for teaching young ones the essential life skill of swimming. All the children at Little Egerton will be taught how to swim under the guidance of Jean Spargo. This includes the foundation phase children.

Another highlight of the school is the magnificent gardens which are currently under development by Mariette van Staden and the parents of the school. When the school was put under Egerton management, the gardens were in dire need of attention. They have since filled the garden with beautiful flowers and shrubs, which makes it a stunning environment to learn in.
