Budget restraints curb fencing
The Paradise C Grounds will be completely fenced once funds are available.
Security guards and new fencing have improved the situation at the Paradise C Grounds.
However, residents fear hard work in rehabilitating the ablution facilities and upstairs meeting room will be for nought, owing to a gap in the fencing near the Sutherland Street taxi rank.
This still allows pedestrians access to walk across the field unhindered.
Security personnel stationed at the grounds admitted it was a constant struggle to keep these residents from taking a convenient shortcut across the grounds.
Community Services SED, Mandla Sithole was tasked with responding.
He commented the fence was being completed in a number of stages, and would be continued with when the budget was available from the local municipality.
Mr Sithole was also asked when the grounds would be ready for use by teams.
“Only cricket is using the C grounds as it’s currently their season,” he replied.
