Sebenzakusakhanya class of 2014 wants 100%
Matriculants vow to make their school proud

“Backward never, forward ever.” This is the new slogan that Sebenzakusakhanya Secondary is singing this year. The 2013 matriculates received a satisfying 88% pass rate, up from the 74% received in 2012, also with 63% pass rate in Mathematics, an improvement from 26% in 2012. This year’s Matric students aim to make the school proud by obtaining a 100% pass rate.
Mrs Msimang, Deputy Principal said the culture of working as a team, within school management, teachers and parents, played a huge role in improving the school’s results. She said they want to lay a firm foundation for Grade 8s and 9s as well.
Last year in December they drew up a year plan for 2014, discussing a number of issues. Among the issues discussed were absenteeism, late-coming, and dealing with learners that do not want to do their tasks.
She said they are communicating with the parents as well to explain the plans that they have put in place to deal with these issues.
She thanked all the teachers and parents for their efforts in making sure that learners do well in their school work. She conveys a message of gratitude to Izinoju and the school’s Mathematics teacher, Mr P Nhleko, for the improvement in Mathematics results last year.
