ITHALA Game Reserve offers two hiking trails, beautiful campsites, other accommodation and a huge variety of animals.
Jack 'n Jill Hiking club visited this well maintained park on the weekend of January 17/19 and were pleasantly surprised when they found the elusive elephants! There are approximately 150 elephants in the park.
Friday night, after pitching the tents, we enjoyed our “take away – eat out in the wilderness” meals. Very early Saturday morning, we set out on a hiking trail which starts and ends at the reception.
If you so wish you could cool off in the lovely swimming pool, but as any true hiker would tell you, swimming in lukewarm river water is much better after a hike!
After lunch we went on a spectacular game drive taking you up high into the mountains and then circled back to the lovely picnic spot on the banks of the Pongola river.
Our monthly meeting was held and the fines issued, but you have to be a member to get the inside info of this.
