Competition professes true love
More than 5000 Valentine's Day cards were received.
Valentine’s Day is widely accepted as the most appropriate time to show your loved ones how much you care.
It was with this fact in mind, that Factory Plaza held a card-making competition earlier in the year.
Local schools were invited to make love-themed Valentine’s Day cards and display them on the shop fronts at the Factory Plaza, and more than 5000 entries were received.
The shopping centre also handed out numerous prizes to all entrants.
Amajuba School received two prizes of R5000 each for the most entries from an individual school and for the class with the most entries, with Grade 9A submitting about 675 cards.
The prizes for the best made cards were as follows:
First prize: Chante Luus from Hutten Park. She received a R1000 gift voucher and another voucher of R200 to give to her true love.
Second prize: Chante Vermeulen from Amajuba School. She received an R800 gift voucher and another for R200.
Third prize: Johnny Chamberlain from Arbor Park Primary. He received a R600 gift voucher as well as a R200 voucher.
Fourth prize: Minenhle Zulu from Chelmsford Secondary. She received a R400 gift voucher and another voucher to the value of R200.
Fifth prize: Heinrich Greef from Bergsig School. He received two vouchers of R200 each.
