BY NOW it should be a widely known fact that water is a very precious commodity.

One needs only take into consideration the events which have been taking place recently in Vryheid, where some parts of town and surrounding areas have been without water for lengthy periods of time due to municipal strikes and the sabotage of the water pipes.

However, water has been gushing from the taps in the toilets near the post office for hours, running from the drain and down the gutter in Market Street. According to the source who reported this to us, the case has been reported to the municipality.

One can only ask the question, can we really afford this senseless waste of a limited resource?
