Appreciate our men and women in blue
Police officers are human beings, like any other.
Bonginkosi Ntuli, Executive Secretary, Mondlo Community Police Forum, reports,
“I HAVE been a member of the Community police Forum (CPF) since 2003, and recently read in Popcru news that our police officers often feel unprotected and vulnerable, and of course they need to act immediately in order to protect themselves and the community.
Over the past decade, more than 1,000 police officers have been killed. Last year, 101 members were killed while on duty.
The reality of life-threatening violence is one of a number of challenges facing the men and women in blue.
In reality, police officers are human beings like any other, and they have weaknesses and are often vulnerable.
If we want development in our country, we must learn to acknowledge and appreciate the work done by SAPS members.
People who work for the SAPS are exposed to danger during the course of their duties, and their families do not know when they greet them in the morning, whether they will return home alive that night.
One police life lost is one too many.”
