Final leg of local cricket league gets underway
Cricket teams give it their all in games over the weekend.
THIS WEEKEND past saw the final leg of our local cricket league get into action, with three games being played over the weekend.
Gladiators and Bhekuzulu Scorpions went head to head on Saturday, making sure they gave it everything.
Scorpions were at the crease first, managing a total 210 for the loss of two wickets.
Gladiators tried to reach the score, but fell short by 67 runs after being bowled out.
The main contributors for the game were: T Magubane (3 Wickets); T Zungu (3 Wickets); T Masondo 73*; F Buthelezi 67; J Jansen 37 and D Aitken 37. On Sunday, the Mr X team travelled to Paulpietersburg to take on Dumbe for the Sunday fixture.
Dumbe took to the crease first, managing a total of 71-8 in the allotted overs after some impressive bowling by the Mr X team.
Mr X took to the field and reached their target score with six wickets in hand.
The main contributors were: L Solms 25 (2 Wickets); M Machado 26; M Vosloo 13 (2 Wickets) and J Pollard (2 Wickets).
At the time of going to press, there was unfortunately no news regarding the Sunday fixture which took place in Vryheid between Wicket Wasps and King Superstars.
Fixtures for the weekend: Saturday: Wicket Wasps vs Gladiators; Sunday: Scorpions vs Mr X and Dumbe vs King Superstars. Games will start at 2:00pm.
