Vryheid Rugby Club: At 116-0 a force to be reckoned with

A spectacular score against Volksrust at their home ground by both Vryheid's first and second rugby teams is proof of their insatiable hunger for victory, as well as their unwaivering drive and determination.

THE “YOUNG GUNS” of Vryheid Rugby Club showed exactly what they were made of this past weekend.

In a spectacular match against Volksrust, who are certainly no strangers to victory themselves, especially on their home ground, both Vryheid’s first and second teams managed to totally annihilate their opponents on their own grounds.

Vryheid’s second team beat Volksrust with an impressive 55-0, Coenie Bestbier once again taking Man of the Match. The first team crushed their opponents with an unbelievable score of 116-0, displaying the perfect balance of flair in their backline and experience on the field. The lightning fast Mornè Ellis took Man of the Match for the first team, scoring two tries and showing that dynamite really does come in small packages, while his brother, Andrè Ellis, scored four tries. Francois Scheepers was the top scorer of the match, scoring two tries and kicking 14 conversions, as well as one penalty, with an accuracy of 83% converted. The next match will be against Pongola on Friday night, 7:00pm, April 25 at Pongola. If Vryheid Rugby Club’s performance in the last few weeks is anything to go by, it will certainly be a match worth supporting.
