Former ANC Councillor joins forces with NFP

FORMER ANC councillor for Vryheid, Andre Lötter, who ditched the ANC in January last year, has recently joined the National Freedom Party.

“The IFP and ANC don’t respect democracy,” said Lötter. “The DA is still perceived as a white people’s party. A party like this (NFP), with a dynamic leader, has a proven track record of delivering services to the poor in a rural area like Zululand, where I’m from,” he said.

In a media release, the ANC accused Mr Lötter of being a “serial party hopper driven by self-interest,” and furthermore claimed that it was, “happy to see Lötter go,” when he decided to leave the organisation.

Lötter joined the IFP after leaving the ANC and following his departure from the IFP, intended to stand as an independent candidate for the Abaqulusi Municipality’s by-election in Ward 22.

In response, Lötter stated in his own media release, “The ANC is desperately trying to cover the electoral crimes it had committed in Ward 22 of Abaqulusi (Vryheid) with just more lies and cries,” he said. “By the time I resigned freely and very happily from the ANC in January 2013, the ANC and its alliance member the SACP were the only political parties I had ever belonged to, for six years.”

Lötter joined the IFP for a brief period after leaving the ANC, claiming it was the open discussion at a caucus meeting of illegally bussing in supporters and members from other areas which prompted him to resign from the IFP approximately two months after joining the party.

“My fight against the IEC, ANC and IFP continues,” says Lötter, “and soon a verdict will be reached.”

“If Ward 22 of Abaqulusi is anything to go by, we cannot have free and fair national and provincial elections next month with the current heads of the IEC,” said Lötter, and further questioned, “How can the IEC organise a free and fair election throughout the country if, for the past 13 months, it has been unable to organise even one free and fair election in just one ward of the country? Impossible!”

Lötter accused the ANC of “clutching at straws” in their negative description of his choice to leave the party.

“It is because the ANC hates me for having refused to drink at their polluted well of corruption and criminality,” said Lötter, “and for now exposing it’s electoral crimes openly in court.”
