The scheduled DA meeting on Wednesday, in the Moth Hall in Dundee, represented the closing note to their highly successful roadshow in KZN. With John Steenhuizen leading the pack, they addressed a meeting in Dundee on Wednesday night, celebrating a highly day with no less than 19 commitments, with one no less than opening a branch in Forestdale. John Steenhuisen (MP) is the DA’s Shadow Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. Before moving to Parliament, he was the Leader of the DA in the KwaZulu Natal Legislature. He and Sandy Kalyan, the soft-spoken Deputy Chief Whip in Parliament, Councillor Hlanganani Gumbi, the Ethekwini Spokesman for Housing, and provincial legislature candidate for the DA,  Dean Macpherson, ward councillor for Durban North, and national legislature candidate for the DA, represented the visiting DA members in tonight’s meeting. They were accompanied by the local DA stalwarts like Dr. Bedassi and Anton Raubenheimer, who joined them on stage. The scene was soon set for action when the first speaker, Hlanganani Gumbi stepped to the floor with the microphome, and moved down the steps to join the people on the floor. And that exactly is the bottom line of their approach. The theme of real change, housing and property rights, title deeds and the improvement of the dilapidated education system and an urgency to improve the situation of jobless young people circulated through the entire proceeding. Hlanganani Gumbi had an electric effect on the audience when he joined them on the floor, but John Steenhuizen pounced upon their senses like a marauding tiger. His short, powerful and straight-shooting message had the audience on their feet. The Democratic Alliance wants change for South Africa, and they want to create hear good stories from the people on graasroots level. The vote of the people is inalienable and the DA wants to borrow that vote for five years. They want to become the official opposition in this province. If the people are not happy with them after five years, they can take bake their vote. At this point in time, only time itself will tell whether John Steenhuisen’s fiery oratory will have been cut into stone.
