A police detective has been dispatched to Elandslaagte, to confirm eye witness reports.

According to Captain Flip Claassen, statements from witnesses in Elandslaagte are required to gain information on the movements of the
suspect.

Currently, a police detective and a journalist from the Newcastle Advertiser are racing towards the area the man was reportedly seen with the stolen
vehicle, and an unknown passenger.

Police sources have confirmed the suspect has a previous criminal record, also for theft of a motor vehicle in Johannesburg. He is also allegedly a
known drug user.
