Community bands together to find missing child

The community of Newcastle united together this week to offer help and advice in the desperate search for Marcel Blandin de Chalain.
Outrage, desperation and pure disbelief were portrayed by many of the readers of the Advertiser..
Over 1 000 comments poured in on a post on the Newcastle Classifieds Facebook page, not to mention the countless texts,
telephone calls and chat room messages exchanged among residents.
The post by Estelle Scholtz Herbst showed the true compassion the people of Newcastle had for the family and their desperate pleas for the safe return of their missing son and brother.

“I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who helped us,” said Adri Blandin de Chalain, Marcel’s mother.
In a heart-warming show of empathy, community members donated money and food to the family to help them in their time of need.
One comment summed up the entire effort by the community; ‘Excellent work to all involved. Great to know there are still people willing to go above and beyond to help others.’
Bringing a mother to her knees, the disappearance of Marcel has shown what a combined effort of
resources can achieve in a surprisingly short amount of time.
Claudette Keene commented: ‘Thank you Lord. I’m so happy for the family. Newcastle people rock. The SAPS did an awesome job. Thank you.’
