Speed timing to keep the roads safe
If a vehicle is found to be going over the legal speed limit, the driver is pulled over and fined accordingly
Public Safety officers were seen in Helpmekaar Road on Friday morning doing speed timing.
Protection officers Jaco van der Merwe and Amit Badri were there using an Ultra Lyte Laser Speed Timing Machine that is able to tell them at what speed a vehicle is travelling. If a vehicle is found to be going over the legal speed limit, the driver is pulled over and fined accordingly.
The fines issued vary depending on how fast a car is ‘clocked’ at in a given speed limit zone. If a vehicle is travelling way over the speed limit, the driver may face arrest. One resident commented that, “These officers, along with other members of Public Safety, do such a great job in making sure the roads are safe and that those who do break the law are held accountable.”
