Dedicated to curbing crime
Making Allen Street safer, is one of the goals which dedicated policeman, Warrant Officer Sasha Naidoo hopes to achieve.
Giving more than 20 years of loyal service to the South African Police Service (SAPS) is truly the mark of a dedicated policeman.
For Warrant Officer Sasha Naidoo, however, going beyond the call of duty is just an average day.
W/O Naidoo has spent 22 years giving his all for the betterment of the community, 18 of which he spent in the K-9 Unit.
Whether on or off duty, W/O Naidoo is not afraid of endangering his own life for the purpose of fighting crime.
“It’s my passion to stop crime and keep the streets clean,” explained W/O Naidoo.
He is particularly committed to curb crime on Allen Street where it is rife, even when he is off duty.
“Even though I am alone, I am not afraid to chase down the suspects when I spot them,” said W/O Naidoo.
He has participated in many dangerous operations and arrests in the past, which is why he is convinced his skills can benefit the town.
One of the most memorable arrests of his career, was when nine suspects were arrested in connection with a spate of armed robberies, murder and hijacking, as they travelled from Umlazi, through a roadblock he orchestrated.
“Due to the Almighty’s protection, and our training, we are still around after facing countless dangerous situations. We will still fight to serve this town,” said W/O Naidoo, referring to Newcastle SAPS.
He said dedicated policemen such as himself, would always want to protect this town, because they value its people, and they respect their calling, but they also needed the support of the community.
“We must be able to fight crime together! The community must be aware of potential criminals, and crimes waiting to happen by being observant. After all, chance favours the prepared,” concluded W/O Naidoo.
