On August 11, 2013 the community of Newcastle, and indeed the entire farming community of KZN, were shocked and horrified at the brutal murder of Timothy Green.
The Newcastle Advertiser reported the sad incident on August 16, the front-page photograph portraying a man exuding joy and life. The horrors of the events that claimed his life have been relived time and again by his friends and family.
Through sheer hard work and determination, Newcastle SAPS were able to arrest three suspects within 28 hours of the murder taking place.
The hard work of the investigating officers assigned to the case has started to pay off. Police spokesperson, Captain Shooz Magudulela earlier this week confirmed one of the suspects arrested had pleaded guilty.
“One of the three men pleaded guilty to murder, and was sentenced to life in prison,” said Captain Magudulela. “The remaining two suspects will again appear in court on August 4.”
Witnesses are set to testify against the remaining two suspects, who both pleaded not guilty.
