The drug trade in the Dundee area is running wild, and police are battling to curb the scourge.
According to a source who asked not to be named, drug usage in the town is ‘worse than ever and continuing to grow’.
Disturbingly, schools have not been left untouched, and regular and unscheduled searches by police dog units at local schools normally uncover dagga and ‘dagga cookies’ (biscuits laced with dagga). Dundee police spokesman Captain V Mbense confirmed that there is a drug problem in town, but said that police are often hampered in their bid to arrest drug dealers as ‘the community often gives misleading information’.
He added that the police’s trusted informers have identified houses where there is suspected drug activity, but when the police arrive at these places there are no narcotics to be found, and therefore no evidence that could lead to arrests.
