THE RESIDENTS at Emondlo Ward 20 say that they are losing their patience with the area’s councillor, Councillor DJ Mahlase.
According to Mr Mdlalose, a member of the Emondlo Residents Committee, the councillor called a meeting early in April to address the issues of water, electricity and the RDP houses in the area.
“This was very unsatisfactory to us as the community members as there are many other issues that the area is facing besides these three issues the councillor had mentioned in the letters that were sent out inviting us to the meeting,” said Mr Mdlalose.
According to the community members, other issues such as waste management, sewerage and the terrible conditions of their roads need to be dealt with.
The councillor then promised the community members that he would set out another meeting where he would bring the people who dealt with these community services and the matters would be settled.
The community members say that they are starting to believe that this whole meeting was part of the campaigning prior to the elections as they have not heard from the councillor ever since.
Attempts to get hold of the councillor were futile and no comment was obtained from him at the time of going to print.
