WARNING: Graphic Content – Dead Husky dumped in garbage bag

Animal cruelty is apparently reigning supreme in Newcastle, with the second case of suffering animals reported within a week.

A dead male Husky was found stuffed into a rubbish bag, along with used nappies and other household rubbish – even a child’s old shoe.

The smell of human faeces from the nappies overpowered even the smell of death.

Domestic worker, Elsie, made the grisly discovery this morning, when she was clearing up rubbish bags dumped by the enclosure surrounding the skip next to Squeeze Inn, on Gemsbok Street in Hutten Heights.

“I found three bags here this morning,” she said. “I threw the first two bags into the skip, and when I picked up the third bag I found the dead dog.”

According to Elsie, every so often people would dump rubbish bags next to the enclosure, as it was locked at night. “But it is wrong, the municipality cleans up by their houses,” she exclaimed.

Elsie then told Evona Meintjies, who works at Squeeze Inn, about the dog. “I immediately phoned Richard Marais from Crime Watch. He arrived within a few minutes,” she said.

There is no apparent damage to the body of the dog, nor any obvious signs of poison or sickness. The cause of death will only be known once an autopsy has been conducted.

According to Mrs Meintjies, the municipal waste management department was contacted to remove the body of the dog. “They said they would come and collect him later,” she claimed.

Members of the media investigated and found possible clues that could link to the identification of the owners of the Husky. As the case unfolds, more updates will follow.
