Winter Knights braving the cold on Mandela Day

Braving the cold, members of the the organisations spent more than 67 minutes on Mandela Day outside Pick n Pay in Hutten Heights from 5.30pm until 8pm.

The Winter Knights of Newcastle, in conjunction with Ncandu 86 Round Table raised R13 000 in donations to assist in their winter warmth and blanket drive campaigns.

Braving the cold, members of the the organisations spent more than 67 minutes on Mandela Day outside Pick n Pay in Hutten Heights from 5.30pm until 8pm.

They encouraged shoppers to give whatever they could, and many businesses pledged money to the organisation.

As winter’s icy breath seemed set to continue over the next two months according to weather predictions, community members applauded the blanket drive initiative.

The Winter Knights extended their thanks to all the sponsors for contributing to the whopping amount, and thanked Pick n Pay for its assistance.
