‘Maule’d audiences during show
Performing for the first time in Newcastle, Mr Maule had patrons of Mid City Grill choking on their meals.
East Coast Radio presenter, Darren Maule, is remembered for his bright and chirpy attitude on the Breakfast Show, but what many people do not know is that Mr Maule is also a comedian.
Performing for the first time in Newcastle, Mr Maule had patrons of Mid City Grill choking on their meals.
He was quite thrilled with finding the misconception of Newcastle being a ‘backwards town’ to be false, and even applauded one resident who took along their child for the performance.
“I was supposed to perform in Newcastle before, on at least two other occasions, but those fell through, but I was more than happy to perform tonight,” said Mr Maule.
He proved that his on-air humour could also be brought to life in person, as he performed everything from one-liners to improvisations as he ‘felt-up’ the crowd.
Co-hosts Natarah Nadasen also provided a bit of commentary before the show, and the chemistry the two seem to show on-air reflected in this performance as well.
Although the show was not a lengthy affair by any measure, it did prove that Mr Maule was pretty good at live stand-up, and it would not be surprising if he returned in the future for a bigger show.
All in all, the show seemed to resonate well with the restaurant goers.
