Tourism meeting raises some questions
Vryheid Tourism held a product holder's meeting recently, where several important issues were discussed.
BISHOP’S Guest House played host to local business owners in the hospitality and tourism industry on Wednesday, July 23.
Vryheid Tourism held a product holders’ meeting to discuss some of the issues that many business owners have been facing within the tourism industry, as well as some of their recent success stories, with regard to staff training and community upliftment.
The meeting was opened with a scripture reading and prayer by Mrs T Yaka, and then proceeded with Annelize Vorster welcoming guests, including Councillor MJ Sibiya.
Alet Swanepoel, a name synonymous with Vryheid Tourism discussed some of the events which will be taking place on the tourism calendar in the not too distant future. One of these events is the Vryheid Tourism Road Stall, which went off very smoothly last year and will once again be held in December of this year, welcoming guests and passers-by to Vryheid, a town so rich in history and culture, and perfectly situated amongst the major battlefields of the province.
Lindiwe Ntshangase discussed requirements for the licensing of businesses in the hospitality industry with Abaqulusi Municipality, answering questions and providing feedback to business owners who attended the meeting.
Mary Oosthuysen, a representative of Eco Clean Running Water, presented a slide show to guests, explaining the benefits of using Eco Tabs, a product which has been designed with the environment in mind. According to the presentation, Eco Tabs are beneficial in the treatment of specific areas of waste water, such as municipal and industrial waste water, as well as grease traps, septic tanks, portable toilets, ponds, dams, lakes and water recycling operations.
The next meeting will take place on November 5 at 10:00am. The venue has yet to be announced.
