Mondlo women celebrate unity at Mother and Daughter High Tea
Mondlo women gathered for a high tea celebrating unity, strength, love and support.
August, which of course is Women’s Month, was officially closed with a ‘Mother and Daughter High Tea’ at Mondlo Hall.
Women come together to support one another
The high tea saw mothers, daughters and women from the community gather with one purpose, to help each other grow.
Words of wisdom were passed down by mothers to their daughters, while the daughters shared words of encouragement with their mothers.
Philisiwe Mtshali, chairperson of the Intokomalo Organisation and host, explained that the event was aimed at building and supporting women.
“When my team and I planned this event, we had one mission, which is to build a woman. We are aware that women go through a lot of challenges and hardships, whether in society, workplaces, within their homes or in their personal lives.
“So this event was to say, help the next woman who might be facing what you faced. We also wanted to promote love, kindness and support among women and break stereotypes associated with hatred when it comes to women,” said Mtshali.
Speakers tackle issues affecting women
Different topics were tackled on the day.
AbaQulusi Municipal Manager Sbonga Dlamini spoke about women in governance, including the challenges they face and the breakthroughs they have achieved.
Dr TP Nkosi from Mondlo Methodist Church spoke about ‘women not letting their crowns fall’.
She encouraged women to remain strong and ‘hold onto their crowns’, no matter what challenges they may face in life.
Mrs Maduna shared a message on the importance of being a woman and highlighted how precious women are.
Women celebrate in style
The ladies looked dazzling in their black attire and hats, complemented by touches of gold.
They had tea and cake, laughed together, sang and danced while enjoying each other’s company.
High tea to become an annual event
Mtshali concluded by saying, “From now on, this Mother and Daughter High Tea will be held annually in the month of August.
“I want to thank each and every woman who celebrated, supported and attended the event. A lot was shared and I am hopeful that their lives changed for the better.
“I also want to thank the people who assisted in the planning and made the day a huge success.”
